This rather looks like a British tank breaking its way into the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles, South of Paris. Are those French troops running from it? This triggers thoughts of a whole number of alternate history ideas. Perhaps the easiest is that the Germans are using tanks they have taken from the British or have developed their own very much on the British model rather than the designs they adopted in our history. Perhaps the soldiers are French mutineers and the British tanks have been sent in to suppress the mutiny. Great to see these images here in terms of provoking thoughts about how differently the First World War may have gone.
I could be easily be wrong about the palace. However, it is an intriguing scenario. You might be right. I am sure they develop lots of ideas that actually never end up in the game. Another scenario I could imagine is something around the Russian Revolution, but from what I understand the game focuses on the Western Front.

I’m not sure what’s going on, I didn’t play the game and the storyline on Wikipedia doesn’t mention anything about the Palace of Versailles.
Maybe it was a concept art that went nowhere?
